A proportion of society thinks that the best solution to solve air pollution is by raising the price of fuel, while another proportion thinks that different methods should be adopted. I believe both sides are correct in their own way but, I prefer the side where different methods are adopted.
While raising the price of fuel is a solution for controlling air pollution, it can only control the pollution up to a certain extent because the vehicles will still run on the road and will still cause pollution. For example, if you double the price of fuel, public transport will double their fares and in the end, it can only limit pollution, but is not the ideal solution.
Different other methods can be implemented as they will not only provide a solution for air pollution control but also will give a permanent solution to it. For example, replacing fuel vehicles with electronic(EV) vehicles is a very good solution. Electronic vehicles will not only avoid air pollution but are cheaper in price compared to fuel vehicles. Another benefit of EV vehicles is that they will also reduce noise pollution. However this method of replacing fuel vehicles with EVs should be made compulsory by the government authority so that everyone can follow the rules, and there should be different initiatives to follow this process.
In conclusion, increasing the prices of fuels is only a temporary solution and will not solve the air pollution permanently, We have to adopt some different methods like replacing fuel with EVs, which can solve the problem in the long term.
