While some individuals argue that university education is vital to be successful, others say that it is no longer needed. I agree with the former view.
Advocates of the view that university is not important to succeed in life put forward several justifications to support their stance. One supportive claim is that students may cultivate resilience in them. When many students choose working instead of studying at the university, they are likely to face many challenges during their working journey, which may help them to find solutions in order to overcome obstacles by pushing their limits. As a result, by doing so, they are likely to bounce back from setbacks and stay focused in the face of adversity more easily. Over time, by facing many problems and overcoming them, they build resilience in themselves that directly leads to success.
This argument notwithstanding, from my perspective, getting a university education should be the main priority. This is because if students go to university, they might interact with other peers from different backgrounds, which can help them to boost their communication skills, such as public speaking and teamwork. As a consequence, they may end up being effective communicators in the future. Eventually, they might face fewer challenges when it comes to finding well-paid jobs, as today’s modern society is desperately in need of communicative workers.
In conclusion, although not getting a university education comes with numerous advantages, such as developing resilience in students, I am of the opinion that a university education deserves more attention, as graduates can strengthen their communication skills by interacting with their peers. Only by focusing on getting academic education can we have a society that is not only more communicative but also more educated in the long run.
