Many opponents contend that students should choose college subjects according to work opportunities in the future because they will aquire a vacancy easily, whilst proponents assume that they should focus on subjects which they are passionate about, as this will enhance creational and innovational levels. I firmly side with the latter standpoint because of passion which is a crucial factor in life.
On the one hand, learning subjects related job opportunities will open up a wealth of career opportunities. In other word, because of the high demand in some professions, adolescents target such studies due to the ease of access and profession affordability after graduation. This results in more progression in a career ladder and more secured financial status, regardless of the passion. An eminent example can be witnessed in some struggling countries such as Egypt where many youth prefer studying highly-ranked subjects to guarantee getting a chance for a job. Hence, it has been proved that some university subjects have a direct influence in raising empolyments rate in the workforce.
On the other hand, despite the practicality of the traditional studying, some students tend to learn what they are passionate about, resulting in more creativity and logic thinking. To illustrate, when a learner enroll in a subject which he is enthusiastic about, his brain fosters more cognitive development by dedicating time and effort learning its techniques. This leads to making a remarkable progression afterwards in a career because of the speciality. Therefore, choosing subjects based on passion contributes to exceptional innovational levels.
In conlusion, although enrolling in subjects for affording a guaranteed profession is required for its ease of access and availability, others and I strongly believe that studying based up on interest plays an indispensable role because of promoting cognitive development.
