Opinions are divided on whether the primary advantage of multinational collaboration is to protect the environment or global business. From my perspective, it is important to note that these viewpoints are not mutually exclusive, and that ideally, the international participation plays an important part in both environmental protection and world business.
Most people would agree that protecting the environment should be the main benefit of international cooperation. This is predicated on the assumption that underdeveloped countries, where poverty and crimes are rife, may not allocate enough resources to addressing the two problems mentioned above, let alone protecting the environment. However, with financial and technological support from developing and developed nations, the underdeveloped ones have sufficient resources to not only address their issues but also take part in global environmental protection. This is a testament to how crucial international cooperation can be when it comes to protecting the environment.
There are those who believe that world business should be the primary interest of multinational cooperation. Economic globalization incentivizes nations to increase trade and investments, resulting in job creation and economic development. Vietnam is a perfect example. In the past, this country used to face a multitude of problems such as poverty, crimes, and low economic performance. However, since the Vietnamese government implemented several policies to open doors to other nations, and joined some international trade agreements like WTO ( World Trade Organization) and WHO ( World Hospital Organization), more investments have come, leading to a surge in the economy. This also helps Vietnam address the problems of poverty and crime, since it has created more jobs for its nationals.
In my opinion, both the environmental protection and business all over the world should be considered to be the main advantages simultaneously. With the participation and effort of every nation all around the world together, I believe that we can not solely address environmental pollution (such as air, water pollution, and soil degradation) but also support others to obtain economic development.
In conclusion, I am of the opinion that the primary goal of cooperation between nations around the world is not an either-or proposition. As such, both protecting the environment and world business should be regarded as two main interests of it.
