It is often argued by some individuals that the university’s top priority should be preparing pupils for work, while others opine that academic research is more important. As far as I am concerned, I am in favour of the latter view.
On the one hand, Job nowadays requires experience. To illustrate this, Working skills are essential to survive in today’s world. Without having skills, It is very difficult for a person to acquire a job. Moreover, preparing students for the workforce will not only create opportunities for them but will also benifit society in terms of economy. In particular, A well known technology company (Microsoft) hires employees with atleast 4 years of experience. Consequently, Teaching work skills should be the top priority for a university.
On the other hand, Academic research can be the sole reason for many inventions. To elaborate, Shedding a light on academic research can be beneficial for many individuals. Latest machines can be developed if a proper academic knowledge is given to students. This will support mankind in many forms. For instance, A research by PEC (Pakistan education consultancy) reveals that 80% of new invention comes out from educational institutions which focuses on academic research. Hence, This notion can be responsible for many developments.
In conclusion, Although it is difficult for a person to acquire a job without experience. Yet, academic research given by a university can lead to many inventions.
