Opinions are divided on whether governments should strictly control access to fresh water or provide unrestricted use. Although strict control of the supply of fresh water can bring some benefits, I believe that residents should have free access to fresh water.
On the one hand, strictly controlling the supply of fresh water helps governments save sustainable resources. This is because many people now lack awareness about the importance of fresh water, leading to using for inappropriate purposes, eventually wasting it. As a result, the government may run out of fresh water, and citizens may have to use treated water instead of fresh water. In the long term, using too much treated water may affect their physical health, causing various diseases and increasing the government’s spending.
On the other hand, providing access to fresh water in an unrestricted way can bring many benefits rather than controlling it, regarding human rights and urgent social issues. To begin with, access to fresh water is a basic right for humans, due to its necessity in daily activities. If people are not allowed to use it in an accessible way, they may have difficulties doing some basic tasks such as cooking or laundry. Furthermore, many social issues occur in slums due to the lack of fresh water, which prevents them from surviving like . Therefore, if the government can provide the access of fresh water to residents , they may sifnificantly improve their quality of life. In fact, many areas occurring droughts like India, people have to collect water from a small well far from their houses by putting the cans on the head, espesially woman, that caused many mental health problems and stop them to enjoy social activities.
In conclusion, I believe that people should have the right to use fresh water as much as they want , leading to their basic right and reducing social problems. However, the government also needs to raise awareness about the importance of fresh water and encourage to save it
