It is sometimes argue that we should ban female working as police officers. In my opinion, I strongly disagree with this notion.
On the one hand, we should maintain the equality and diversity on the job market. If we reject applicants merely just because they are female, it would be deemed as sex discrimination. In fact, women are generally physically weaker than men. But when it comes to police force, we can raise the physical requirement for female as the same standard of male, eusuring female police officers have the ability to carry out missions. Moreover, if we fire all female police officers, we will see a rise in unemployment rate, which only make our society more problematic, to make matters worse, it could cause large-scale walkout.
On the other hand, female police officers have some merits compared to the male counterpart. Firstly, when it comes to some specific cases, such as raping, domestic violence, and school bullying, victims could be traumatized, and they have the tendency to remain silence if a muscular policeman investigate the case. However, if we allow female staff to talk to them in a gentle way, they might share their terrible experience with the police. Secondly, women have a advantage at expression, allowing them to do a better job in social intermediations and handling family feuds. Finally, having both sexes in the office could increase the workers’ productivity
In conclusion, while some people suggest we should prohibit women to work as police officers, I completely disagree with it.
