It is a belief that the government should not spend much money on art and culture. However, I am of the opinion that activities related to culture would need more funding from the country owing to its benefits.

On the one hand, the idea that government spendings should not be used for encouraging art and culture is attractive for several reasons. To begin with, it is evident that in recent years, the main issue occurring in modern days is about severe environmental degradation. Furthermore, some festivals that celebrate cultural events have polluted the environment due to the attendees litter and harm the surroundings. As a matter of fact, instead of paying attention to the art and culture field, the government should put a premium on tackling this problem. Another point to mention is that a lot of buildings in the cities have been damaged throughout many years, which could cause a multitude of negative effects on the people. Therefore, it would be more beneficial for the government to spend more money on ameliorate the infrastructure instead of art and culture.

On the other hand, while it is undeniable that environmental issues and the living standards of the people are important, the country should focus on the citizens’ spiritual life rather than the material possessions. Art and culture would be able to enhance awareness of adults down to children about preserving old memories in the modern days. In addition, culture plays an important role in protecting the heritage, which captures the attention of tourists. More destinations from the past would urge curiosity of people, and the cultural exchange between tourists and local people, leading to a development in the tourism industry. Take Thailand as an example, a significant number of tourists visit this land owing to its temple and cultural destinations.

In conclusion, I believe that using money to address the environmental problems and improve the living quality of the people are advantageous in their own ways, it seems to me that it is better for the government to support culture and art.
