It is opined that traditional games are more beneficial to children’s abilities development than modern ones. From my point of view, despite the technological skills that present-day activities can provide, I mostly agree with the given notion as old games can foster creativity and promote active lifestyles.
On one hand, games of today can offer kids technical skillsets, which is indispensable for the modern technology-driven work environments. Interactive games like Kahoot or Quizziz hosted by teachers can make new knowledge more accessible to students as well as assist children in acquiring essential skills such as typing, analytical reasoning, and collaborative skills. These abilities are crucial in preparing and shaping their understanding of the future workplace.
On the other hand, traditional games can have positive impacts on a child’s creativity and physical strength. Many old activities like rock climbing, mushroom collecting, and fishing stimulate developing new ideas and giving children a great deal of inspiration whilst engaging with nature. For instance, Gaudi, the famed Spanish architect, devoted much of his childhood to immersing himself in nature, spending time in forests and playing amidst trees and animals. This deep bond with the natural world significantly shaped his architectural vision, evident in his masterpieces such as the Sagrada Família, which draw inspiration from organic elements like dried leaves and ant nests.
Another notable benefit of traditional games lies in their focus on promoting physical activity. The majority of classic games involve some forms of physical movement, thus positively contributing to one’s physical health and well-being. For instance, games like hopscotch or sack races require players to use their physical power to move between boxes or outmaneuver their peers to reach the end.
To conclude, while modern games play a notable role in enhancing technological proficiency, traditional games are typically more beneficial for fostering children’s skill development, as they significantly enhance creativity and promote physical well-being.
