It is widely believed that teenage conflict with parents is an essential part of life, while others argue that the conflict should be prevented. This essay will discuss both perspectives on how teenage conflict can be a crucial part of growing up and why there are possible detrimental effects to this conflict.
One of the reasons why many say teenage conflict against parents is an issue is due to teenagers tend to go through a rebellious phase during their teenage years. This becomes a concern because it can cause communication breakdown among family members, which leads to arguments and misunderstandings. For instance, many families likely set boundaries and rules in their houses, teenagers with adolescent rebellion are mostly against this. Moreover, causing conflict in the household where parents try to have a mutual understanding with teens, however, teens would reject this due to the phase they are going through. Therefore, teenagers rebellious phase and their own beliefs lead to conflict with parents.
Despite these drawbacks, teenage conflict with parents also has its benefits. This means that the family may already develop a shared understanding for the reasons of the conflict, or simply because of the experiences in their teen years which can make them grow independent thinking. For instance, developing independent thinking can be caused by problems at schools or family tension. In addition, most teens become mature and gain adolescent independence. Therefore, this can have a positive impact on teenagers that have gained maturity and create a mutual understanding with families.
In my opinion, teenage conflict with parents is most likely beneficial because they gain independence which impacts their part in adulthood. Teenagers can learn from their past experiences and make them a part of their life lesson, this benefits them in the future where they have to work with individuals. For example, not only that they gain independence and maturity, this development also evolves to critical thinking. This becomes an advantage in work fields, where they can become a reliable person at work and professional because they are mature. Therefore, this enables them to successfulness despite the conflicts.
In conclusion, I believe teenage conflict is an important part of growing up. Although it is inevitable that it causes misunderstandings with parents, the conflict can also make teenagers bring out independence and maturity.
