In the time of new technologies and developments, many individuals believe that governments should spend money on researching other planets, while others think that it is just a waste of time and money when our planet has a lot of problems, such as pollution and global warming. The aim of this essay is to compare both sides of these views and give examples of why I favor solving problems on our planet.
On the one hand, a majority of people who prefer that the government spend the taxes and fees of the population on looking for life on other planets give arguments such as new varieties of life and new places for the Earth’s population in the situation that our planet is destroyed for some reason. Put differently, this group of individuals believes that we are not alone in our universe and that there are other types of life, which might be more intelligent than us. For example, in the universe, there are some planets where some chemical elements have been discovered which are similar to our atmosphere and contain primary microorganisms. Furthermore, searching for planets for future life, in the situation of ruining our planet after human activities, is a result of global problems that people would not want to solve.
On the other hand, a proportion of people who choose solving our planet’s own problems provides ideas such as cleaning our land of pollution, protecting the ecosystem, and working to prevent climate change. For example, governments should spend public wealth on inventing new technologies for recycling several types of pollution and creating new programs for protecting the flora and fauna of the Earth. That kind of action will give more benefits to people than spending money on a potential planet with a comfortable atmosphere for humans.
In conclusion, people have several points of view about public cash spending. However, according to me, I would prefer that governments spend money on solving the results of human actions.
