In this day and age, one school of thought urge governments to allocate money for life exploration outside Earth, however, some argue the focus on unresolved problems on our planet is more crucial. From my perspective, I agree with the latter opinion. Although space exploration to find other living creature is a great motivation for scientists, the urgency of resolving international conflicts between nations is of greater importance.
On the one hand, it is agreed that our mankind has an unquenchable thirst for territorial exploration. In many centuries, humans have constantly made efforts to discover and extend their territory. Since evolution started in Africa, our ancestors had immigrated to other continents. After developing their own culture and mankind to a certain extent where survival needs no longer the main concern, they would settle for new adventures into the unknown land and conquer it. This can be seen in the medieval times in Europe, between the 13th and 15th century, there had been numerous journey into the vast ocean. One major discovery is the arrival of Columbus in North America, following by the development of cruise technology. Such long-worn evidence is enough to make clear that exploring new territories is the motivation for scientists towards new innovation.
On the other hand, tackling the most evident problem on Earth, which are the current conflicts between nations requires greater urgency. With the news taken over social media and the focus of public attention, it is evident that there are many disputes in many countries, in every continent on our planet in these days. These wars and conflicts is ascribed to bombs, weapons and the scatters of residential area, which can negatively affect a great many of vulnerable citizens. In many regions, such as the land of Gaza or the inner cities of Syria, locals are in urgent need of humantarian aid and food to live by, while their lives are always threatened. Therefore, a great number of protests and criticism comes from people from peaceful countries, volunteers and activists demand governments resolve their conflicts in peace, without harming innocent lives.
In conclusion, while space exploration to find other living creature is a great motivation for scientists, the urgency of resolving international conflicts is of greater importance to ensure normal citizens’ safety.
