These days, it is true that some individuals spend more time studying and working than other activities. In this essay, I will discuss the reasons and explore both views on this issue.
Firstly, this phenomenon can be attributed to the fact that some individuals nowadays have a strong interiority, which encourages them to work harder. This is because they have their own high expectations and determination that they have to achieve all their goals; therefore, whenever they have difficulties or setbacks, they are likely to cheer themselves up by viewing challenges as opportunities to learn and improve rather than simply getting by. As a result, while others take time to refresh themselves, people who have strong interiority are willing to trade time to work with the hope of having a sense of fulfillment. Second, some people work harder than others because they want to have better lives in the future. It can be easily explained that today, society is increasingly developing; as a consequence, each individual has to change themselves and work harder day by day in order to adapt to that reformation. For instance, for students who want to find better learning opportunities but live in rural areas where learning conditions are very low, learning hard by themselves is the only way to get into some top universities compared to others who live in the city.
From my point of view, I believe this issue has both positive and negative effects on humans. On the one hand, when individuals put in hard work and achieve their goals, they not only have more positive beliefs about themselves but also have a greater sense of accomplishment and respect from others, enabling them to inspire others through their stories. However, if people spend too much time working and learning without relaxing, they will be burned out, which easily affects human’s mental health. For example, seniors, who have to study harder to prepare for graduation exams to get into dream schools, tend to stay up all night to study; consequently, they suffer from sleep deprivation and feel stressed all the time, causing lower learning efficiency and depression.
In conclusion, while working and learning hard brings many benefits and opportunities to develop themselves, I opine that it is also important for them to have a suitable timeline to divide work and rest time effectively in order to have better results in their work and good mental health.
