Some specialists in physiology advice just to do nothing in order to not to feel stress. I partly agree with this claim because this way is not for everyone.
On the one hand, it helps keep calm by different ways. For some people it is very easy to clean thoughts by being in absolute silent room. Even 5 minute of just sitting on a sofa may help to decrease the level of cortisol. Also, this recommendation is very useful for people who often cannot find time to rethink reasons of their stress. For example, often people overcome stress when they are sitting in a plane or a car and are just watching to window. This approves the theory.
On the other hand, being alone may lead to even more issues such as anxiety or to another mental problems. Some individuals start create new problems in their minds to overcome the old ones. Moreover, sometimes a person may think many times about stressful situations that happened in the past. Obviously, it will not help anyway. Despite the fact that some physiologists consider this approach as an important one, there are many other ways such as spending time with relatives, doing hobbies or just sleeping. Not everyone can do nothing without disturbing on something. For instance, I have noticed several times that doing nothing usually leads to overthinking, and this issue is more significant.
In conclusion, benefit of this recommendation depends on a person. If they can concentrate and forget about everything, it is useful but in other situations may lead to overthinking.
