Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In many countries, many students decide to take gap year to travel or work before they start university. While this trend offers several clear benefits, It also represent certain drawbacks that should be carefully considered.

One major advantage is gaining life experience. By travelling or entering workforce, young people are subjected to real situations that help them evolve independence, adaptability and problem solving skills. As a result, them become more mature and responsible for their own lives, which can significantly improve their ability to cope with academic pressure later. In addition, work experience allows students to better understand the demands of the labor market, providing them make more mature and informed decision about their future.

However, there are some disadvantages. One main problem is lack of motivation. After earning money some leavers can decide to continue working instead of studying, as university can seem difficult and stressful. Another drawback is that students can forget studying skills. After a long break, it can be hard to return to studying, especially for subjects that need regular practice, such as mathematic or science.

In conclusion, taking time to travel or work before university can be useful for personal growth, but it may reduce motivation to study and make learning more challenging. Therefore, this decision should be made carefully.
