Nowadays, the increasing business and cultural interaction between countries has created a debate due to its effect on national identity. While some people believe that such global contact can generate many benefits to a country, others argue that this would be a devastation to national identities. From my perspective, I think that this phenomenon has more potential advantages compared to its potential drawbacks.
On the one hand, it is understandable why so many people are afraid that some national identity may disappear. The explanation for this fear is because of the fact that the domination of global brands and culture can generate negative effects on local traditions and economics. For instance, the spread of fast food chains such as McDonald’s, Lottery,.., has led to the decline of youth’s attention on traditional cuisines in some nations. This phenomenon seems to be true in many countries and causes a lot of concerns about the disappearance of traditions. However, this problem can be controlled as long as the government introduces new, widespread cultural preservations to all citizens.
On the other hand, it is undeniable that business and cultural contact contributes a large part of a country’s development. To be more specific, it allows countries to access worldwide markets, creating more jobs for residents and boosting trade. For example, thanks to the appearance of the NVIDIA company in Viet Nam, many employment opportunities for technical engineers were created, which increased the development in many aspects of life. Additionally, the trade of culture may speed up the exchange of ideas, arts, traditions and many mental values, enriching social values. For instance, the rich of Vietnamese traditional foods and history has introduce Vietnam’s culture to all over the world and catch a lot of attention from many people
In conclusion, despite the possibility of national identity loss, I firmly believe that the business and cultural interaction between nations offers many opportunities for development. By participating in the cultural preservation progress, countries can embrace this global trend while preventing the potential disappearance of tradition and culture.
