Although it is thought by some that exercising improves health, others consider that a healthy diet is more beneficial. In my opinion, regular exercise is essential for the physical and mental well-being of people.
On the one hand, I agree with the notion that physical exercise is crucial for a healthy life. One reason is that it reduces chronic diseases. Since a sedentary lifestyle has been directly linked to many of these diseases, regular exercise has been proven to be the most effective way in combating them. Health experts, for example, recommend an hour of physical activity per day, as it will significantly reduce diseases, such as high blood pressure, heart problems, and diabetes. Moreover, exercising improves mental health. This is due to the fact that it can successfully eliminate stress and anxiety, which are the leading causes of depression. A large number of psychiatrists, for instance, advise their patients to go to the gym, considering that it helps in releasing excess energy and reducing negative thoughts.
On the other hand, people who claim that a balanced diet is important often attribute it to two main factors. Firstly, it prevents obesity. Consuming junk food frequently causes people to gain large amounts of weight rapidly because of the high level of fats in these foods. Therefore, having a balanced diet consisting of lean meat, fruits, and vegetables can help in maintaining healthy weight and eliminate obesity. Secondly, it increases energy levels. Given that fast food is filled with saturated fats, high levels of salt, and other food additives, it takes the body long periods of time to process these foods, which leads to feeling lazy and tired. However, healthy food gives the body the nutrients it requires and increase energy and concentration.
In conclusion, while people may vary in their opinions, I believe that the prevention of certain diseases and the improvement in mental health makes exercising the better option.
