Some of the youngest people who have committed petty crimes have been sent to prison. While there are some benefits, they are outweighed by the drawbacks.
One of the advantages of sending young people to prison is that it can give them some opportunities. For example, many prison systems these days suggest to some educational and vacational programs in order to rehabilitate convicted offenders. Also, these programs can provide the youngest with some skills and sources, which can help them reintegrate into society. Apart from this, incarcreation is, in fact, a safer way to protect the community from potential future offenses. Because majority of societies around the world suffer from different petty crimes such as pickpocketing, pursue snatching and avto theft. This is a key point for authorities to take care of their community for any possible dangers.
In my opinion, however, the downsides for young people who have putting in prison are more significant. One main advantage is that this can negatively affect young people’s mental health and those of their family members, as well as the harsh environment of prison, including violence, isolation may be able to cause some psychological issues. In turn, younger people find it difficult for rehabilitation as well. Along with this, the literacy rate of young people can be affected too. This is because imprisonment interrupts their education and work. As a result, they miss out on crucial schooling and opportunities for personal growth.
In conclusion, although there are some positives associated with committing a minor crime by young people who have been sent to prison, they are not as significant as the negatives.
