It is often argued that schools should focus on teching practical skills and how to be a good citizens instead of academic subjects. Personally, I completely disagree with this statement. This essay will explain the main reasons for this position.
The key reason why academic subjects are essential is that maths and science teach students how to solve problems. They develop critical thinking and analytical skills which are vital for any professional career. For instance, engineers and doctors rely heavily on scientific knowledge and mathematical calculations to do their jobs effectively. Therefore, removing scolary knowledge would leave students unable to contribute to innovation and technological progress.
Another reason why I hold this opinion is that citizenship and work skills are learnd from family, society, and on-the-job training. Educational institutions time is limited, and if we waste hours on citizenship, we reduce time for core subjects like math and science that are much harder to learn. For example, a company hiring a new gradute will provide its own training program to teach workplave procedures. The school’s job was to ensure that gradute had the academic qualifications to get hired in the first place. Thus, it is inefficient to use limited classrooms time to teach skills that are better learnd through practical experience.
In conclusion, although some people may holed different opinions , I strongly believe that academic subjects are crucial to prepare students for professional careers in the future and schools time are limited to teach them how to be a good citizens.
