Band 8+: Space exploration is a waste of resources. It would be better to spend that money for improving people's lives. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

There is a view that governments and international organizations should allocate more money to improving individuals’ lives instead of investing in space exploration. While space programs can provide certain benefits for humanity, such as job creation, I strongly believe that authorities should prioritize investments in agriculture and education to enhance the quality of life.

Proponents of space exploration cite various reasons to support their stance. The primary benefit of space exploration is job creation. When governments and private companies fund space programs, they are likely to create work opportunities, as multiple job fields are involved in these programs, including astronauts, aerospace and satellite engineers, and mission specialists. This can ultimately pave the way for people who are struggling to find a career despite having standardized certificates and diplomas, thereby drastically reducing the unemployment rate. In a world where unemployment and poverty rates have reached epidemic proportions, providing job opportunities takes on added significance in reducing these issues.

Nonetheless, investing in individual advancements is crucial. If authorities and international organizations allocate funds to agriculture, farming can benefit from increased crop yields and higher annual profits, as these investments are directed toward fertilizers, genetic modifications, improved irrigation systems, and essential crop chemicals. As a result, this can enhance food security and product supply, thereby reducing global hunger. Funding education would be another significant advantage for humanity. This is because if governments and private companies invest more in education systems, they enable citizens to improve their literacy and knowledge in different fields, thus fostering a well-educated population. This can not only boost economic growth but also drive political mobility, ultimately enhancing the overall quality of life.

In conclusion, although some people support space exploration due to job prospects, I still firmly believe that governments and international organizations should allocate funding to improving people’s lives, particularly in agriculture and education.
