Some people believe that space exploration is a waste of money and that governments should use it to improve people’s lives. I partly agree because helping people is important, but space research also brings benefits.
On the one hand, many people face serious problems such as poverty, hunger, and a lack of healthcare or education. Governments could use money spent on space missions to build hospitals and schools, provide clean water, and support families in need. These actions would improve lives directly. Countries should make sure that basic needs are met before spending large amounts on space exploration.
On the other hand, space research can help people on Earth. Satellites are used for weather forecasts, communication, navigation, and monitoring natural disasters. These services make daily life safer and easier. In addition, exploring space helps scientists develop new technology, which may be useful in medicine and other fields. Stopping space programmes completely could mean losing important opportunities.
In conclusion, I partly agree that governments should focus more on people’s needs. However, I do not think space exploration is a complete waste of resources. The best approach is to balance spending on social problems with responsible investment in scientific research.
