I strongly agree with the statement made above. In my opinion, space explorations aren’t absolutely important, and can be termed as a waste of money.
Space explorations in the past few decades have peaked a few times. Since the 1960’s, when man has set foot on the moon there have been a vast number of attempts and missions in regards to space explorations. With a rise in technology, countries are now able to host space missions more frequently. Most projects are goal oriented and conducted in a similar process to make meaningful observations, with no guarantee of it being successful. Though on one hand these might lead to important observations, they aren’t solving the current dilemmas of mankind. Problems such as poverty, food hunger, global warming aren’t addressed. With global warming in talks, these missions aren’t very environment friendly either. Majority projects lead to exhaustive usage of natural resources and contribute heavily to the global carbon footprint. They remain harmful not just for humans, but animals too.
Instead of conducting a vast number of rocket tours and further damaging our beautiful planet, the money could be put to a good use for any noble cause. The budget directed towards these space excavations of exploring another planet, could help solve problems of our current one. For example, a newspaper highlighted the budget spent on Mangalyaan, could reduce the number of individuals who face world hunger. Another strongly implied, the six times failed NASA mission of mars, would benefit the poor and eradicate poverty. This in turn would have benefited society.
In order to explore another part of our universe, we should’t be harming this planet and more importantly the living beings. Hence, in my opinion I firmly believe space explorations are too expensive.
