In this day and age, space tourism has been promoted worldwide. While many people assume that the adavancement of space travel will affect humanity positively, I side with those who claim that it is going to be a negative development.
The first reason why I consider the growth of space tourism to be a detrimental idea is because the development of this realm will divert funds from other vital areas, such as medicine and education. In other words, it would be much more advatageous for humankind if funds provided for space tourism were contributed to developing new medical equipment or elimitating inequality in education systems.
Another reason for space travel being a negative development is that it will jeopardise people’s lives. To be precise, space tourism blurs the boundaries between travelling to space for the sake of science and travelling as a way to find adventures. It is impossible to deny that astronauts are carefully picked and trained in order to be launched into space. However, when it comes to space travelling, it remains unknown whether people planning to experience zero gravity expose their lives to danger or not. Therefore, space tourims poses a threat to people and might bring irreversible consequences.
Finally, last but not least, space is explored so little that it is impossible to suggest what space tourists might face during their flight. The existence of extraterrestials is still questionable. However, many scientists are convinced that there are some intelligent life forms and some people assure that they have seen UFOs. That being said, sending ordinary people into space can lead to some issues in case they encounter something new that they are unaware about as people have not been provided with specific knowledge about space and its inhabitants.
In conclusion, not only does space tourism need an exorbitant amount of money, but also it risks the lives of both travellers and people reamined on land. As a result, I firmly believe that this trend is a negative development.
