Band 5+: Staying healthy by playing sports and eating well should be an individual's duty to society rather than a habit for personal benefits. Do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In today’s world, the question of whether healthy lifestyles such as playing sports and eating clean ought to be an individual’s responsibility to community or personal merits remains a topic of heated debate. While I believe that the duty of people to their society can help healthcare industry and overall productivity, personal benefits of staying healthy cannot be overlooked.

First of all, the main rationale for my agreement of people’s commitment towards community for healthy way of life is that it can reduce the pressure on medical industry. As a matter of fact, should people not follow lifestyle prioritizing health, citizens are more likely to suffer from physical and mental health problems such as obesity and depression, causing strain on not only patients’ quality of life but also medical resources So high is the people’s demand of wellness services that it can trigger medical indutry’s overload, causing enormous financial contraints to national budget because the government have to increase expenditure to maintain healthcare facilities, namely hospital infrastructure. In addition, when the individuals stay healthy, it is sufficient health that they have in order to enter the workforce and remain high work performance. This means that they can contribute to overall productivity, raising national income by a robust labor force.

My justification for the advantages for individual is that with optimal health by following active lifestyle, they can follow their career pursuits as they are healthy enough to work hard in their expertise, which might be mentally satisfying and raise their personal income, which foster their living standards. A prime illustration of this is that workers who tend to do exercises on a regular basis might reduce the likelihood of back pain and overweight, which boost their work excellence. Furthermore, leading healthy habits can create personal financial benefits. People with wholesome living can prevent illnesses, which might reduce their medical expenses; therefore, they can save money for their personal purposes such as retirement savings.

To conclude, while individual’s responsibility of staying healthy towards society can diminish a heavy load on medical care and improve overall work effectiveness, the merits for persons are essential for them to employment passion and saving money for personal needs.
