Libraries have been acting as a cornerstone of information for students, academicians, professionals, research scholars and people across the communities. However, I disagree with the fact that with information being accessible online, libraries have become redundant.
Before the advent of computer and internet, people have been reading and accessing information through the repositories stored in the library and have become scholars and professors. People of various ages love to go to the library to read books in a peaceful and quiet environment. Studies conducted in the past show that individuals who read with a better focus and concentration can grasp the information quickly and retain the information for a longer period. The environment you get in the library is of utmost importance.
To add-on, the information available in the library is vetted for quality and authenticity which is done by the writer. Hence, the information reliability for the students and academicians become more trustworthy and they can use the information as citation in their assignments and project. In turn, this assists them to attain good grades.
Moreover, reading information online for longer duration of time can cause eye strains and severe headaches. It is impossible to sit in front of laptops reading and learning for most people. So, they prefer to read in the library for a change of environment and productive hours.
To conclude, advancements and changes are welcomed in every field. However, it is not necessary that the library become redundant with the accessibility of the information online. The library has been acting as a fundamental base for the access of information for long periods of time. It depends upon the students how they can take advantage of numerous resources around them
