Some people believe that providing education to prisoners can help reduce crime after they are released. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
In recent years, the numbers of criminals shows up ward trend. As a result, some people argue that education should be provided for prisoners to reduce crime after they are realised. From my perspective, I belive that providing good stable education for criminals, the proportion of prisons decline. However, old habits die hard, because if they can do some crime, they never cannot stop doing it despite hard working. This essay will show pros and cross; and make decision after it.
On the one hand, despite prisoners’ mistakes, goverment should give opportunity to education. If criminals have nobody to talk or show right way to be good person, they will not understand their mistakes and do crimes again and again. For example, some former prisoners who receive vocational training are able to find employment and never commit crimes again.
On the other hand, education cannot completely solve the problem of crime. As the saying goes, “No two people are alike.” Some prisoners are determined to change their lives, while others are unwilling to change their behaviour. Even after receiving education and support, a number of offenders continue committing crimes because they are influenced by old habits, peer pressure, or financial problems. Therefore, education alone is not enough to prevent reoffending.
In conclusion, I believe that education should be available to prisoners because it gives many of them a second chance and helps reduce crime.
