It is often argued that some people believe that studying the past offers little or no knowledge for the people today while others strongly believe that it is very essential to know the past to understand the present. I intend to discuss both sides of the argument. Personally, i side with latter view.

History refers to things that happened in the past.Those who opposed to the study of history argue that past is very different from the present. Technology, lifestyle, economy has changed a lot over the years and these has not that much connection with the past.They think that instead of digging in the past, everyone should focus on the present and the future. Because old information cannot give the solution of the present. Furthermore,they think that current issue need modern knowledge rather than the past information.

On the other hand there are several reasons why people do think that past history is needed to understand the present better. There are several events which are the result of the past. So to get understand these events better, past is essential. Moreover the background of Political conflict, war and social traditions can be known from the past history. Past also serve us as guide because we do not repeat the mistake of yesteryear. We also get inspiration from the men of the past through history.

To sum up,i strongly believe that history is important, it not only deepen our knowledge but also develop the ability of analysis.
