It is true that many countries are becoming similar due to the same fashion trends, same brands, same advertisements, as well as similar TV channels. Even though this phenomenon causes several problems, including the loss of cultural identity and ethnic language, I believe that its advantages, particularly easier access to international products and cultural exchange, outweigh its disadvantages.
Admittedly, there is some validity to the argument that decreasing differences among countries could lead to the loss of cultural identity and traditional language. Firstly, when individuals from different backgrounds share the same values, celebrate similar holidays, and follow the same trends, they are likely to lose their national holidays and traditions. For example, influenced by international TV channels and advertisements, some Uzbek people may celebrate New Year more enthusiastically than their traditional holiday, Navruz. Secondly, people may not prefer to speak in their own language due to the globalization, as international languages, particularly English and Spanish, are widely used in social media, education, and business.
However, I argue that globalization offers numerous benefits by enabling consumers to purchase international products and allowing people to experience and learn about different cultures. One major advantage is that people can access international products from well-known brands. For instance, people from Russia can purchase a brand-new model iPhone in their own country without having to visit the USA. The second major advantage is learning and experiencing different traditions. For instance, British people can try Korean cuisines such as kimchi and bibimbap in their local restaurants after becoming interested in K-dramas and Korean TV shows. Therefore, globalization offers more advantages by providing easier access to a wide range of international products and experiencing different traditions without the expense of traveling to other countries.
In conclusion, although globalization may lead to the loss of cultural identity and traditional language, I believe that its benefits outweigh its drawbacks because it provides easier access to international goods and cultural exchange among countries.
