The given bar chart illustrates the percentage of poverty among 6 different regions of the world namely East Asia & pacific , Middle East & North Africa , South Asia , Sub-Saharan Africa , Europe & Central Asia and Latin America & Caribbean during the years 1993 and 2002. The pie chart on the other hand represents the percentage of rural and urban people living in the year 2002.
From the bar chart it can be clearly stated that the ratio of rural poverty in East Asia & Pacific remained the same during the years 1993 and 2002. Apart from East Asia & Pacific region, among the remaing 5 regions only Europe & Central Asia reported a increase in the rural share of poverty from being around 50% in the year 1993 to nearly 70% by the year 2002. The rest of the regions has a slightly declined poverty rate in the 2002 in contrast to the year 1993.
The pie chart represents the percentage of poverty share between rural and urban area in 2002. We can see that the rural area is responsible for 76% of poverty, which is three times that of urban area which is responsible for just 24%.
