In contemporary times, the topic of environmental protection has become a prevalent issue to the general public. Some people believe that using local resources instead of transporting them from other places is the best way to protect the environment, and I partly agree with this opinion. This essay will provide some reasons and relevant examples to support my arguments.
On the one hand, I am among those who believe that prioritizing local resources is beneficial for the environment. One primary reason is because it helps reduce carbon emissions from transportation. Another major cause is that local products require less packaging and preservation. This means that fewer chemicals and less plastic waste are generated, which is better for the environment. This can be shown by the example that locally grown food can be sold and consumed quickly without long-distance shipping or excessive packaging. The evidence mentioned above has clarified the view that using local resources can significantly contribute to environmental protection.
On the other hand, some other people might have opposing ideas on this issue. One primary reason is because not all regions have sufficient natural resources to meet their needs. Another major cause is that importing materials can sometimes be more efficient and cost-effective. This means that relying solely on local resources may limit development and increase costs. This can be shown by the example that countries lacking raw materials for construction must import them to support infrastructure development. The evidence mentioned above has clarified the view that transporting resources is sometimes necessary for economic growth.
In conclusion, the issue of environmental protection has still remained controversial. From my point of view, I partially advocate the fact that using local resources is an effective way to protect the environment. However, everything has its two sides, and this case is no exception. As a result, people need to carefully consider both perspectives on this issue.
