Every month hundreds of people die in road accidents, most of whom are younger teens. In most countries, early age driving is banned, but instead of obtaining legal documents, most teenagers drive vehicles. Many people think that increasing the age limit and decreasing the elderly age limit is one solution, but it is just a myth.
Increasing the age limit would not prevent car accidents, as many legal license holders can also bump cars. The fact that matters is experience of driving and focus on the road. As teenagers reach the commencement of adulthood, the entice to drive increases as they want to become more independent at that time. Moreover, owning a vehicle becomes their first choice due to friends owning one. If we increase the age limit for obtaining a driving license, then they would not mind if they have a license or not to drive, which will lead to even more accidents and deaths. However, instead of increasing the age limit, tests should be updated so that only true driving skill holders can get a license. Moreover, decreasing the elderly age limit can be helpful in decreasing road clashes, because in old age cognitive and coordination abilities might decrease, which can lead to deviation of focus from driving and ultimately will result in an accident.
To nail the coffin, I would like to say that increasing the age limit could not stop younger ones from driving, but instead increasing test difficulty could be one option, decreasing the old age limit might be helpful in preventing bumping of cars and deaths.
