Traffic congestion is a major problem in the world. Some individuals believe that living in urban areas can reduce traffic congestion and transportation problems. In my opinion, I agree with this statement, but sometimes it creates drawbacks. In this essay I will discuss both views and provide a reasoned conclusion.
On the one hand, living in cities can reduce both traffic and transportation problems. One main reason is the shorter distance between home and workplace or schools. In countryside both people farther to work. However, people living in cities can buy rent a house close to workplace or school. Therefor they can save money and reduce traffic congestion. Another reason is easy access to public transportation. This is because, city side had good public transportation system and more people use public transportation (buses, train and taxi) instead of private vehicles. This can reduce transportation problems and traffic congestion.
On the other hand, encourage more people to living in cities may create several problems. On main problem overcrowding. Both people relocate to urban areas and use private vehicle, therefor traffic congestions and transportation problems may increase. In additionally, pollution level is increase. Therefore, living in urban areas is not a complete solution to reducing traffic and transportation problems.
In conclusion, living in urban area is beneficial for decreased traffic congestion, because of the shorter distance between home and workplace, easier to use public transportation. However, sometime this statement creates drawbacks like overcrowded, increase pollution and also increased rental and transportation fees. In my opinion I agree with this statement, but the government should want to pay attention to public transportation in the countryside.
