There are different opinions on whether team sports are the best teaching method in terms of cooperation, or it has it own drawbacks. Although I support this idea to a certain degree, I do not fully agree with this statement, and in this essay, I will discuss its strengths and drawbacks.
On the one hand, team sports are an effective way to enhance children’s ability to collaborate with each other. Through these activities, kids acquire beneficial soft skills like teamwork and friendship, and by finding cooperative solutions to different problems, such as arguments and conflicts. As a result, they become more outgoing and confident in society, which can be beneficial not only in the present but also in their future relations and lives. For instance, students can take responsibilities and play by their roles, as they need to find essential tactics to win. Additionally, sports like football and basketball develop competitiveness and leadership among teams, and children learn how to win together and accepting loses correctly.
On the other hand, team sports are not necessarily the best way to foster students to cooperate with each other. Objectively, not all students are encouraged in sports, which can make them feel isolated and lonely in a group during these activities. Consequently, there are a lot of different activities, where kids also need fundamental skills of leadership and cooperation, which schools can give them by varies of another things. For example, group projects help kids acquire the same abilities, where they can present their creativity and teamwork. Furthermore, schools can organize collaborative problem-solving tasks, which also help students to develop communication skills.
In conclusion, both opinions have their strengths and weaknesses. While team sports can help students to demonstrate their individual skills and teamwork at the same time, other activities can help to develop communication skills and motivate children to collaborate with different people in the future. I support the idea of conducting sports activities to the same extent as group activities.
