Some say that the decrease of crime rate nowadays is affected by improvements in technology. I partially agree with this statement and this essay will discuss that technological advancement can reduce the crime rate but it can also be used for criminal purposes.
To begin with, in the past, police found it was hard to identify criminal suspects. But today, with the use of modern devices such as security cameras or CCTV, officers can easily find robbers just by rewinding the records. Another technology that can be used is identifying criminals by the fingerprint they left at the crime scene.
On the other hand, with the help of a micro camera, stalkers can snoop into anybody’s room. With the upgraded technology, people can easily steal someone’s privacy, locate their location and publicize it or much worse selling them for their own benefit.
In conclusion, a coin has two faces, like technology that helps both ways to increase crime rate and to decrease it, depending on the user. These are the reasons why I partially agree with the statement that the crime rate nowadays is decreasing due to advanced technology
