The pictures show the layout of West Park Secondary school since it was erected in 1950. Overall, the school witnessed big changes since its construction with erections of new building and enlargement of a car park, despite entertainment facilities not being developed significantly.
In 1950, houses and schools were situated along the main road, which is located in the northern part of the school. A farmland was behind houses, whereas there used to be a playground at the back side of the school. Interestingly, all these places were equal to the size, each accounting for nearly a quarter of the area.
After three decades in 1980, houses were knocked down to make way for a car park and science block, while the school was converted into main building. In the same way, farmland was changed into the sports field, however, playground remained untouched.
Turning to 2010, the biggest change was the expansion of car park, which covered the area previously belonged to the sports field. One-third of the playground was replaced by the sports field while the science block and main building remained unchanged.
