These days, the development of multinational companies (MNC) and the increase in globalization have made a positive impact for all. However, I strongly disagree that MNCs and globalization have positive impacts for everybody. This is because MNCs destroy local businesses and increase unemployment and globalization damages the environment.
On the one hand, why I argue against this view is that multinational companies harm local enterprises and lead to higher unemployment rates. This is because the development of MNCs puts enormous pressure on small and city businesses that cannot resist with low prices, advanced technology and massive marketing budgets. When global corporations enter a market, traditional shops, family-owned restaurants, and small producers are quickly pushed out. As a result, it leads to limited career prospects, many small starter corporations fail and they go bankrupt because of lack of recognition. For example, after the Walmart market opened in small American towns, nearly half of the local stores closed within a few years, leaving thousands of people without work.
On the other hand, why globalisation does not benefit everyone is that it causes serious damage to the environment. For this reason, multinational companies often relocate their factories to developing countries where environmental laws are weak and the labour is cheap. As a consequence, these corporations pollute their air and rivers, and destroy natural ecosystems on a massive scale. Which clearly harms both natural and people’s mental health, proving that its effects are far from positive for everyone. For example, the textile industries operated by global brands in China and Bangladesh have poisoned rivers with toxic chemicals, leaving millions of residents without drinking water.
In conclusion, I strongly disagree that MNCs and globalization impact beneficial effects for individuals. This is because MNCs harm local corporations and expand unemployment and globalisation enhances pollution.
