In the contemporary world, it is believed that the expansion of multinational organizations and the increase of globalization have positive effects on society. In my opinion, I totally agree with this view due to some reasons that will be examined in this essay.
On the one hand, the growth of globalization appears as a major factor leading to worldwide cultural homogenization. It is widely known that globalization has substantially influenced the spread of globalized social media and educational programs, which challenges the preservation of indigenous customs along with languages. For example, the introduction of McDonald’s on a global scale has played an incontrovertible role in cultural homogenization by indirectly promoting Western consumerisms and lifestyles.
On the other hand, there are a variety of advantages that globalization offers, chief among which is the improved access to goods and services. By dismantling barriers to trade and investment, globalization has created a global marketplace where consumers can get access to a wider array of products. As a result, individuals are benefiting from the more affordable and convenient choices of purchasing things. Moreover, globalization also contributes to advanced technology. This phenomenon facilitates the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and innovations across borders. Therefore, countries could learn from others and develop various fields such as communication, healthcare, and education through these technological advancements.
In conclusion, the increase of globalization can bring both merits and drawbacks. Nevertheless, the improvement of accessibility to goods and services may be more crucial and significant, compared to the demerit of cultural homogenization.
