There is a standpoint that excessive funds are being allocated by both the government and citizens towards national festivities such as New Year or festivals. The aim of this essay is to address some justifications for why I utterly disagree with this viewpoint.
Admittedly, the allocation of the state budget for national celebrations plays an indispensable part in preserving and promoting a country’s cultural heritage. Specifically, these occasions serve as opportunities for various communities to commemorate their traditions, customs, values, and shared identity. For example, the Lim Festival or Hue Festival in Vietnam has been financially supported by the local authority for the preparation of various activities including music performances, and traditional games. Therefore, more tourists will be attracted, contributing to the overall growth of the economy.
Additionally, investment in national celebrations provides individuals with opportunities to immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere. To be specific, spending money for participation in traditional rituals enables people to experience and acknowledge the values associated with these festivals. Take New Year as a typical example when people utilize money to purchase decor items for their homes and gifts for loved ones. As a result, better cultural conservation can be achieved as individuals come to appreciate the customs associated with them.
In conclusion, I personally believe that the cultural and personal importance of national celebrations such as New Year or festivals outweighs the financial concerns.
