Band 6+: The government should spend money in promoting sport and art in school, rather than sponsoring professional sports and art events in communities. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In this contemporary era, some individuals assert that spending money on promotion of sport and art in educational institutions is much necessary, while advertising professional events should not receive the same financial attention. Personally, I partly agree with this statement due to the rationales that are explained in this essay.

On the one hand, investing in the fields of sport and art at school can bring tangible benefits. In this day and age, due to the rise of the internet in terms of advertising, there is an increasing prevalence of sports and arts. As a result, more individuals have taken up this activity as their hobbies, including a multitude of students at school. Therefore, allocating money in these fields at school provides environments for students to not only develop their physicality and teamwork skills in sports and creativity in artwork, but also assist them in engaging in recreational pursuits in order to relieve stress after school. Furthermore, academic institutes, such as college and university, are sources for several professional organizations to scout for talents. For instance, all teams participating in the National Basketball Association, or NBA, annually scout for young players in several colleges and universities to estimate their performances before drafting generational talented players into their teams to play in the highest level of competition of basketball. As a result, allocating money in the improvement of infrastructures, providing students with the state-of-the-art appliances and accessories, which is enormously helpful for youths aiming to be a professional athletes and artists in their future career.

On the other hand, it is important to recognize positive impacts of professional events on several aspects. First and foremost, the success of an events may contribute to the economic improvement. Once the sports and arts events are publicized, an abundance of individuals will be interested about it, especially worldwide events, such as World Cup and Olympics. These occasions could lead to huge number of sales of tickets and merchandises, which can increase the income of various organizations, and also there is a possibility that more occupations will be created due to huge number of fans and audiences, eventually enhance financial state. Moreover, professional sporting and artistic events are able to attract more people to engage in these activities. According to a social survey conducted by VN Express newspaper, a significant number of teenagers, who have preferences for sport and art, admitted that they started playing sports and doing artwork because they were inspired by either famous athletes or historical paintings. For that reason, the publicities of professional events would introduce the activities to audiences and stimulate their love for sports and arts.

In conclusion, it is undeniable that the investment in promoting sports and arts in academic infrastructures is essential as it assists students not only in developing skills and relieving stress, but also act as a tool to support students with desire to pursuit professional career. However, the sponsors for professional events could elevate the economy and inspire people to be interested in these fields and I am convinced that striking a balance between these two actions will create an optimal outcome.
