Obesity is an increasing issue that has been difficulting the operations of our health system. It is argued that in order to solve this problem, sports and physical education should be taught. This is certainly true, however it would not be a solution by itself. Other healthy habits, such a good nutrition, should be encouraged.
Physical activities are an important tool to fight against obesity. They could be easily promoted by offering physical education lessons at different institutions, such as schools, community centers and even at work. These lessons would encourage people to be physically active. Moreover, they could make individuals interested in playing different sports. These activities would constitute habits that would help people to keep healthy levels of fitness and therefore, reduce health problems of being overweight.
Nevertheless, physical education lessons would not be sufficient to cope with such a significant health issue. A wide range of healthy habits should be introduced. Specially, nutrition must be addressed if we our committed to reduce obesity in our society. What we eat is crutial to maintain good health. Information on what a healthy diet is would help us to cope with overweight. This should include what type of food and ingredients are required to obtain most of the proteins and vitamins needed.
In conclusion, obesity is affecting not only people’s health but also the whole health care system. In order to mitigate this problem, physical activities and balanced nutrition should be promoted. This could be done by offering physical education lessons and information on healthy diets.
