One of the main reasons is the industrial process involved in mass production. Factories release waste into air and water during production, resulting in severe pollution. Moreover, deforestation occuring due to factories construction also lead to loss of habitat and air pollution, which does harm to the environment. For example, a large amount of CO2 emissions was seen in a paper-production factory in Yen Phong, Bac Ninh, which badly affects dwellers’ and creatures’ health. Therefore, the more goods are produced, the more pollution and loss of habitat occur.
Another cause of this issue is the increasing demand and unsustainable lifestyle of consumers. Firstly, after buying new products due to advertising and trends on social media, people tend to dispose of their current ones, which are still in use, leading to overconsumption. Secondly, today’s products are mainly single-use or indisposable, which increases waste and landfill problems. For example, fast fashion industries have produced millions of cheap but low-quality clothes that quickly end up in the landfills. Hence, consumerism continues mass production, which worsens environmental damage.
In conclusion, the rise in goods production is primarily caused by mass production of factories and consumerism, which severely threatens the natural environment.
