It is undoubtedly true that technological advancement has made our lives become easier. However, the proliferation of mobile phones and computers has created a barrier that reduced a person communicating skills in real world. In my opinion, I am inclined towards the notion that e-devices has reduced the ability to talk in person.
Firstly, the majority of people find it convenient to chatting through social media platforms rather than in person. Due to the long distance, using applications such as Instagram, Imess and Whatsapp might be a viable approach for such circumstance. This tendency, however, has instilled in human mind that it is not necessary to meet anymore and it seems to waste a massive time for such activity. The implication of this is that if they have a situation to communicate with each other, they are more likely to consider it as a daunting task and find it difficult to respond or approach anyone.
Another point worth mentioning is that mental health problems such as anxiety and stress can stem from the lack of social interaction. This is true for Japan, where people tend to get back home immediately after work and enjoy their own space at home, resulting in an increasing number of suicided people annually since they have not had anyone to help when they or in bad situations. This means, if individuals excessively rely on computers or phones, they are more likely to have no such true relationship in real life since their communicated ability was diminished gradually.
In conclusion, while the advent of e-devices brings benefits to society, I advocate that this advancement has created a distance between people, making it challenging to socialized in real life.
