It is widely acknowledged that both using mobile phones and computers can cause people to lose the ability to talk with others in person. While I agree that those can reduce people’s skill of communicating face to face, whereas I disagree that people will be completely unable to speak to others in front of them anymore.
On the one hand, with the rapid advancement of technology, interacting with others online is more popular than in the past. To begin with, people use social media to send messages or photos to stay in touch. If people are curious about what their friends have been doing recently, social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, threads and Telegram, it offers up-to-date information about events happening around them without talking to them. Such as Facebook, Instagram, threads and Telegram.+Therefore, individuals may feel unfamiliar when they need to talk to others in person. In addition, it has a negative impact on people who live in different areas are friends or family members, because of the jet lag may make the connection more difficult. To solve this kind of problem, communicating with others through the Internet is a better option. Hence, people will not worry that they don’t have enough mediums to connect with each other.
Besides, there are lots of moments when people usually use online websites to interact with individuals rather than in person. However, I still maintain that people are still required to talk with others nowadays. Firstly, it is impossible for that people to refrain from talking don’t need to talk with others in their daily lives. Although people could live alone, they will also be forced to speak with strangers, such as the shop owners, the bankers and the waiters. Secondly, there are many apps which help people to interact with their social circle. For example, individuals can use Teams, Skype, Line and FaceTime to communicate with others. Thus people would not lose the social skills of interacting with others in person.
In conclusion, while it is reasonable to argue that using mobile phones and computers is able to raise the risk of people losing the ability to talk with each other face to face. In contrast, I reckon that peoples’ ability to communicate in person will not disappear.
