It is an undeniable truth that increase in the amount of household waste is damaging the environment as well as causing pollution. It is in turn leading to several problems but measures should be taken by both people and governments to mitigate this issue.
One major problem associated with this issue is that household waste contains hazardous chemicals, which cause water pollution, when the water from drains goes into lakes, ponds, or other water resources. It harms aquatic life too. When water from these resources is supplied to farms, it damages crops and makes land infertile, due to the presence of excessive chemicals. Consequently, human life gets affected when the fruits and vegetables grown in these farms are sold in markets and consumed by people, causing health problems such as food poisoning.
Governments and individuals should take certain actions to resolve above issues. Individuals should be advised to separate household wastes and put them in separate bins, which are taken by city councils every week. Governments should penalize people who mix up all types of wastes and do not follow the right guidelines. As a result, the society will become aware and stop performing such activities. Moreover, proper severage and recycling systems should be set up by governments in both rural and urban areas to recycle water from houses directly. These solutions can minimize the environmental problems caused by household waste.
To conclude, governments and individuals can minimize the environmental damage caused by harmful chemicals released from household waste by following proper waste disposal techniques and using recycling facilities.
