In today’s modern world, people increasingly use mobile phones and computers, leading to losing the ability to communicate effectively in face-to-face situations. I totally agree with this viewpoint as overreliance on technological devices makes people less socially active and may undermine their confidence and self-esteem.
The first explanation why I agree with this view is that excessive exposure to technology can lead people to a sedentary lifestyle. When people spend long hours in front of screens, they may become physically inactive. As a result, they can lose opportunities for meaningful face-to-face interactions, especially among young people. For instance, children nowadays prefer playing video games like PUBG and Mortal Combat rather than going out for physical activities, often spending entire days engaged in them. This can gradually make them more socially isolated and less active over the long term, potentially leading to several psychological disorders such as anxiety or depression.
Another reason worth considering is that prolonged screen time may undermine people’s self-esteem. In particular, social media often exposes youngsters to unrealistic standards, perfect images, and virtual norms, leading them to compare themselves with others. Consequently, many people may feel less confident about their appearance and abilities. This can gradually make them socially withdrawn and less willing to engage in valuable face-to-face interactions.
In conclusion, although technology plays a vital role in modern life, their overuse can negatively affect face-to-face communication. I strongly agree that this tendency is detrimental in the long term, as it contributes to a sedentary lifestyle and lowers individual confidence and social abilities.
