Band 4+: The internet allows us to stay connected with each other no matter where we are. On the other hand, it also isolates us and encourages people not to socialise. To what extent do you agree or disagree with these statements?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Using the internet is considered by many to has both positive effects and the negative ones. While I believe that using the internet has several advantages, I agree that it leads individuals to become isolated, and also increases the number of people suffering from loneliness.

With regards to the advantages of using the internet, we see that many people support the opinion that the internet can help in displaying whatever we want. For example, when we are trying to find something critical, we can google it simply. Also, we can benefit from YouTube when we need to watch a lecture in a subject presented in a different language. Moreover, people from various countries can communicate with their relatives and friends by using sites such as Facebook, WhatsApp and Zoom. But although the internet has good features, I agree that it is preventing people from being outgoing and sociable. It is often thought that humans need to contact with each other and build relationships because these actions are healthy for people’s wellbeing, but nowadays, the average of individuals communicating online (joining discussion groups) is rising every year. Therefore, they are becoming more isolated.

To conclude, inspite of the internet can be very useful to mankind, I think it has many drawbacks that can damage people’s lives.
