The internet plays a pivotal role in our lives, enabling contact with each other whenever we need, although it can separate us from the real world, leading some people to feel lonely. I partially agree with these notions because it provides a communication medium along with better career opportunities, where people can make virtual communities. In this essay, I would first like to discuss how the internet is more beneficial to humans, and secondly, why I disagree with the notion of isolation.
On the one hand, there are a lot of advantages of the internet; it provides real-time information globally. This allows people to be aware of their surroundings. Additionally, people can connect with their loved ones, even if they live far from them. Apart from this, people can work online without travelling to the workplace, therefore they can easily manage their professional and personal lives. For instance, during COVID-19, companies started work-from-home policies, which made women’s lives more facilitated. Consequently, not only workers but also companies benefit through the internet.
On the flip side, some argue that the internet isolates us. I completely disagree with this because the internet provides opportunities to build a career. With the advent of technology, social media influencers are creating more money through content, live streaming, and showing their lifestyle. They have a great number of audiences, so they feel a part of a virtual community. Additionally, the internet encourages collaboration among content creators. This leads to virtual events and partnerships that promote socialization, not isolation. Thus, through the internet, people can develop a career and socialize themselves.
In conclusion, the internet does not isolate human beings. I strongly disagree with this notion because its advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. The internet not only keeps us updated but also gives a good chance to develop a career, indeed.
