Over the last few decades, it has become much more common for people to struggle from obesity than it used to be in the past. Nowadays, the rhythm of life is extremely fast, which is the reason for people not having enough time to focus on their health and shape. The problem is getting worse and worse, and it is essential to lead to a healthier lifestyle, which should result in reducing the number of overweight people.
One of the main causes of the problem is that the amount of junk food eaten is enormous. Today, being in a constant rush, people do not stick to having proper meals. On the contrary, they have snacks instead of eating a substantial meal and tend to eat high-fat food, such as burgers and chips, rather than salads and fruit. One of the possible solutions could be to limit the number of fast-food restaurants in the countries around the world or the amount of convenience food sold in supermarkets, which should be controlled by the government. If such food were not offered around every corner, people would be less tempted to buy it and choose something healthier/ proper instead – something they would benefit from.
Another reason for the problem is that currently in the majority of countries there is not enough encouragement for proper nutrition in the media. What I mean is that there is too much advertising of such unhealthy food as provided by McDonalds. As a result, both adults and children suffer from being overweight. This problem could be addressed by promoting healthy habits in the society by adding more banners and other types of advertisements to public areas containing images of well-balanced nutritious food. If these adverts are catchy, people will be keen on buying such food subconsciously.
In conclusion, obesity has become a huge problem due to the reasons such as common nutrition and diet which is not always the healthiest. Moreover, being promoted everywhere, the high-fat food is considered to be the most enjoyable and attracts a lot of attention. In my view, together with dealing with these marketing campaigns, the governments should make shops and restaurants include a wider range of food to choose from into their menus and display healthier food as much as possible in order to draw everybody’s attention to it.
