It is true that large internet companies and organizations hold the private information of people. While acknowledging that such action can be beneficial, I believe that it causes numerous problems for users worldwide.
Granted, information which is kept by professional internet companies and organizations is safer and more reliable than other approaches. In this day and age, regarding images or important data, this will be under strict supervision and sorted effectively from operational systems of large technological companies such as Facebook, TikTok, and so on. As a result, when individuals use these apps, which can store important information associated with their work so that they could seek statistics whenever they want. For example, crucial announcements will be sent to one’s mail or SMS, boosting the safety and convenience for users.
However, this line of reasoning is not sound since there are a lot of leaked information events that occur in these large internet companies. This can be seen in Facebook, which used to reveal the personal information of people using this social platform, meaning that the company is irresponsible and lacks reliability. Additionally, users who often post their daily life on the internet may be victims of cybercrime regardless of strict protection by enormous organizations. Due to this captivity of management, almost all individuals are being bombarded with spam messages, which is annoying. This often results in stealing data, and this arguably cancels out the benefits of protection mentioned above.
In conclusion, while keeping personal information of large companies is safe and convenient, I would contend that the benefits of this are clearly outweighed by the drawbacks.
