The given pie charts depict the sales of online shopping for New Zealand’s retail sectors in four different sectors between 2003 and 2013.
Overall, the travel and clothing industries both experienced a decline in sales, while, film, music and book had a growing tendency. Furthermore, film and music markets overtook travel and hence, made up the largest proportion of total sales by 2013.
In 2003, the travel sector had the largest number of online sales at 36%. However, the number decreased significantly to 29% in 2013. Similarly, the clothing industry had the second biggest market share in 2003 at 24% and its share fell dramatically to 16% in 2013.
Moreover, the film and music industries made up the third largest portion of the overall sales in 2003 at 21%, whereas, in 2013, the figure rose swiftly to 33%, overtaking the travel sector and becoming the industry with the highest sales. Lastly, the book sector had a slight increase in fraction by 3%, from 19% to 22% in 2013, taking over the clothing spot.
